Apart from the Philippine national men’s football team’s third-place trophy, Phil Younghusband will be taking home additional hardware for his performance in the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The Azkals star striker will bring home the tournament’s Golden Boot award after leading the competition in goals scored, booting in a total of six goals over five games.

Younghusband edged out for the trophy Pak Nam Chol of North Korea, which ended up winning the tournament. The British-Filipino player scored two goals to lead the Philippine side over Palestine in the third place game to seal his win.

It is the third Golden Boot trophy for the Azkals in international tournaments over the past three years. Ian Araneta and Chieffy Caligdong led to the Long Teng Cup in scoring in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

It is also the second Golden Boot award for Younghusband in recent months. He won the award in this season’s UFL Cup after leading the Loyola Meralco Sparks to the championship round.
