Analyst tells Mayweather: Shut up

MANILA, Philippines – Fight analyst Kevin Iole blasted Floyd Mayweather Jr. for his repeated claims that Manny Pacquiao has been using performance- enhancing drugs (PEDs).

In his latest Yahoo! Sports mailbag, Iole took notice of Mayweather’s statement against the Filipino champion while the American boxer was in Puerto Rico.

“Floyd Mayweather is not a cheater like Antonio Margarito and Manny Pacquiao,” said Mayweather as he promoted his May 5 bout against Miguel Cotto.

Although Mayweather didn’t mention the words “performance-enhancing drugs,” Iole said the implication was clear.

“Mayweather is a brilliant talent and is, in my mind, clearly the best boxer in the world. But his insistence on tearing down Manny Pacquiao and calling him a cheater is wearing thin,” said the analyst.

The controversial boxer is actually facing a defamation suit for insinuating that Pacquiao benefitted from PEDs.

The Filipino superstar is suing Mayweather for trying to ruin his reputation.

Adding to Mayweather’s woes is his upcoming 3-month jail sentence after he pled guilty for beating up his former girlfriend. He will serve his sentence starting June 1.

“Memo to Floyd Mayweather Jr.: Shut up. Please. Button up now, before you open your mouth again and say something even more stupid than you’ve already said,” said Iole.
