Overeem vs Lesnar bout a go

MANILA, Philippines – The heavyweight bout between mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters Alistair Overeem and Brock Lesnar will push through on December 30 after Overeem passed his drug test.

According to MMA Fighting, the 6’5” Overeem tested clean and was allowed to pursue his UFC 141 main event match against Lesnar.

The MMA match is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) had ordered the British-Dutch Overeem to take a new test after previous difficulties in obtaining a sample. His most recent sample was taken on December 14.

The Lesnar-Overeem fight threatened to be shelved after the NSAC debated whether or not to issue Overeem a license.

NSAC executive director Keith Kizer tried to set up a random test on November 17, but Overeem failed to take a test until 6 days later and submitted himself to the wrong one.

Several quarters suspected Overeem of using performance enhancing drugs because of his action figure physique.
