MANILA, Philippines - Powerade's chief gunner Gary David is the PBA Player of the Week after leading his team to victories over the Shopinas.com Clickers and the Talk N Text Tropang Texters.
It is the second time that David has won the award in the PBA Philippine Cup, according to PBA.ph.
Despite the presence of young stars JV Casio and Marcio Lassiter, David remains the Tigers' number one option, averaging 21.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals last week.
David's performance helped Powerade snap a 3-game losing streak with a 102-84 win over the Clickers. He then scored 27 points in the Tigers' historic 131-96 rout of league-leading Talk N Text.
"Gary has evolved from a purely scoring machine to a more complete player, a leader and an inspiration to his much younger teammates," said Powerade head coach Bo Perasol.
"What he has become will make our team more competitive," Perasol added.
Powerade is currently in the running for the eighth and final playoff slot with a 5-7 win-loss record, one-and-a-half games ahead over 9th place Alaska.
David bested Petron's Arwind Santos and B-Meg's James Yap for the Player of the Week honors.
